15 Months

Rachel turned 15 months old today. She woke up from her nap in such a good mood.

She sure does love her grilled cheese.

Right after her lunch, she got in the bath and was still in such a good mood. Her hair has gone a bit crazy recently. This isn't necessarily a good picture of the wings, but it shows you a bit of what her hair is doing these days.

Wow, she just looks so old in this picture. It makes me realize she isn't a baby anymore!

Zoo

Tim and I took Rachel, Jaylin, and Kyle to the Zoo yesterday. It was really nice to hang out with the two older kids since we don't see them too much these days. It was a good excuse for me to be able to drag Tim to the Zoo. He doesn't usually come with me, but the kids gave him an excuse to come. The Peacock was really showing off his feathers. He was hanging out in the giraffe exhibit and showing off.

Jaylin and Kyle going to see the new elephant exhibit for the first time.

Rachel really enjoyed her chocolate chip cookie...but not as much as Tim. I set it down for a minute and it disappeared!

The 3 kiddos next to the elephant.

We went and saw the sea lion show. Rachel was dancing to the music and really enjoyed herself.

We went to the petting zoo and Rachel would go up to the goats and laugh and turn around and run back to me. She was excited about them, but a bit nervous.

She preferred to climb on the logs than pet the goats.

Del Mar Fair #2

Rachel and I went to the Fair again yesterday. After our successful trip at the Wild Animal Park with the petting zoo, we did it again at the Fair. She liked it, but not quite as much because it was a lot harder to pet the animals through the fences.
We went with my mom and David and had a great time.

We went on the Carousel again. She smiles and laughs the whole time. She even drew an audience. As we went around, Grandma and Grandpa would wave and say hi and Rachel would wave to them. The carnie was smiling and waving at her and this lady and her husband would smile and wave and say hi every time we went around. She is just so happy, I think her excitement draws everybody in. It was a big disappointment that she couldn't go on more rides. She would have loved them but didn't meet the height requirements.

She gets so worn out every time. She always sleeps with her arm up in her stroller.

We spent quite a bit of time with my Aunt Cathy and Uncle Ernie. It was cool because I remember Uncle Ernie taking me to the Fair with my cousin when I was a kid.

My cousin's family was there because the girls had a dance performance that night. Rachel and I had to leave before the performance because Tim and I were going out to dinner later, but I am sure that they did great.

WAP

Rachel and I took Tim's mom, Aunt Lynn, and Uncle Ben to the Wild Animal Park this week before they left.
We went into the petting zoo for the first time and Rachel absolutely loved it. She didn't want to leave. She was squealing and so excited to pet the deer. She kept calling them puppies. I guess we need to work on "deer".

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there!
We went to Tim's parents house and had BJ's pizza for lunch.

Rachel really loves her books these days and has to pull every single one out of her toy box every time.

Del Mar Fair

Rachel and I went to the Del Mar Fair the day after I got out of school with Tim's mom and his Aunt Lynn and Uncle Ben from New Zealand.
One of the first things we saw was this butter sculpture of a family.

Tim loves the Australian Battered Potatoes. I think that it is the only thing Australian that he likes. Rachel was kind enough to pose for a picture in the kangaroo.

We sat on the lawn to eat our potatoes. For the most part, Rachel would walk to the edge of the lawn and stop. It was nice because I only had to chase her once or twice.

She makes this goober face so much these days. If you look at this picture up close, you can see her nice little gap in her front teeth.

She was so tired. She fought it so hard, but eventually gave in.

We ate lunch next to one of the little stages. She kept running up to the old people sitting near the stage, smiling and then running away. They were all mesmerized by her. I think she made their day.

We went on the carousel right before we left. She loved it as usual.

We saw the animals at the very beginning, but Rachel was really tired and showed little interest in them. We saw them again on our way out and she was so fascinated with them. When I go to the fair again next week, I will make sure to go to see them when she is awake and happy.

Kick It

Rachel's new phrase in light of World Cup starting is "Kick It". She loves to kick her soccer ball around the house and says "kick it" the whole time. It looks like she is following in her mommy's footsteps. Yippee!

First Swim of the Season

Rachel and I went for a walk around noon just to get out of the house. Tim was working today and so it was just the two of us hanging out. After about 10 minutes, I was getting really hot. I could hear people swimming in our community pool. I called up Tim's parents, and was over swimming in their pool within the hour. I would much rather swim in their private pool than our public pool. It is so nice that they live so close and that it is so convenient to do that.

She couldn't wait to get outside to go in the pool. She was a bit timid at first, but got used to it and had a great time. We started out trying 2 different life vests to see if she would want that freedom to swim a bit (even though I was holding on to her the whole time), but she enjoyed herself much more once she was just in her suit. After she started getting a bit cold, we hopped in the jacuzzi where Tim's mom had warmed it up to 94 degrees and it felt like a bath.

Memorial Day

Yesterday we went to Tim's parents house to barbecue and hang out with his family. We celebrated Mother's Day with his mom.

"What, are you talking to me? I see you!"

Rachel is good at posing for the camera.

Goofball smile again. She is such a little goober.

I bought her some graham crackers recently and she loves them...

...and was really good at sharing them with her Uncle Sam. She even opens her mouth like her daddy does when he feeds her.

She loves her sandbox. She is such an outdoor girl and absolutely can't be outside enough.

Please let me outta here!

She looks so old in this picture. There is no way the little girl in this picture is only 14 months old.

She has really become quite the little daredevil. She wants to climb on everything. She loves to stand on her train.
