Quite a Character

Rachel's vocabulary and conversational abilities have been growing every day. Over the past few weeks, I have been making note of some of the things she has been saying.

1) "It's all clean, darn it!"
She came downstairs with Tim one morning and wanted to play with her toys and was apparently upset that we had the nerve to put them all away after she went to bed.

2) "Cough, cough, cough! No, no, no, no, no!!!"
She has been sick and had a pretty good cough. Tim was watching her sleeping on the video monitor and watched her wake herself up because she was coughing. She was not happy that her cough woke her up and was yelling at her cough to stop.

3) Rachel: "Burp." (A real one.)
Me: "Say excuse me."
Rachel: "No, not a burp. A cough." Then starts to fake cough.

4) "Fix it screwdriver."
If anything is broken or not working, Rachel says we need to get a screwdriver to fix it. This reminded me of Rachel's friend Emma, who thinks everything can be fixed with a pink hammer. Between the two of them, they could fix everything with those two tools.

5) "Oh wow, it's amazing!"
I don't even remember what this was in reference to, but a lot of things are amazing in her world recently. I really wish I could see through her eyes more often.

6) "I wanna watch Mickey. I can't find the mope (remote). This is terrible!"
She hadn't even looked for the mope and found it 2 seconds later and handed it to me for me to put Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for her.

7) "Pumpkins head fell off."
We carved pumpkins at my moms house last night and when I cut the top open to get the gunk and seeds out, she looked at the top and said this.

I will start posting pictures again soon. I finally have a computer that I can do it again with, I just need to load all of my pictures onto the computer and sort them. I have so much I want to share since August...so we will be going back in time soon.

"I'll Get It"

Rachel is becoming quite the character. She wants to be in charge of everybody and everything (a nice way of saying she is constantly trying to boss us all around) and wants to know everything that is going on. I feel a little worried for any future younger siblings because she will make sure that they do it her way (now I know how Brianne and Tyler felt with me as an older sister). She may grow out of this, but it is only getting worse each day, so we will see. I think she is actually starting to hit the terrible two's (at 2 1/2). She is throwing temper tantrums when we don't give her what she wants: the kind where she yells and stomps her foot and eventually screams and cries. She has had more time-outs these past few weeks than the past 2 years. As much as some of this stuff is no fun, we are having more fun with her than ever before because she is still very sweet most of the time and is developing a very fun personality.

So a few things that Rachel has said recently:

1) "I'll get it!" This happened when we got home the other day and I went to the bathroom. As soon as I got in there, my phone started ringing. Rachel yelled, "I'll get it!" and ran and got and answered my phone and talked into the phone as she brought it to me in the bathroom. Good thing it was only Daddy!

2) "Bless You!" She told me this after I sneezed. So sweet!

3) "Mama, what you doing?" This is the start of back and forth "real" conversation. Up until now, most of our conversations are pretty one-sided and don't really go back and forth. She is finally stringing together real sentences and it is so nice to be able to talk to her.

Update: She got a Care Bear costume (Bedtime Bear) for Halloween! Tim's mom helped me and we got it off e-bay. The costume itself was less expensive than the shipping. Anybody who asks her what she is going to be for Halloween, she tells them Bedtime. I just washed it last night and can't wait to try it on her. We didn't have time tonight, but as soon as I get a chance, I will put it on her and post a picture. I am so excited because she is so excited about it.
