Sick Baby

Rachel caught a bug from somebody at the wedding last weekend. A teacher friend of mine was dancing with Rachel and he woke up the next day feeling miserable. She got it a couple of days later. She has been miserable all week. She has had a fever, runny nose, watery eyes, a cough, and has been sneezing her brains out. I started feeling it a bit Friday night and it hit me hard yesterday. I have never started a school year sick and am not looking forward to it this year. Tomorrow is the first day that the students are back. It is going to be hard being away from Rachel so much. I have been so spoiled with how much time I have been able to spend with her.
My poor pathetic looking baby.

Pool Party/20 Weeks

Today I had a pool party at Tim's parents house. Brianne, Kathleen, Corinne, Julia, EJ, Lacey, Kyle, Nathan, Allison, Becky, Nichole, Grant, Heather, Rachel and I all hung out at the pool. We had a great time. Thanks Heather for putting up with everybody and helping out so much!

We BBQ'd for lunch.

There is nothing better than an otter pop to cool you down during the summer!

Kathleen worked with Allison on swimming today. She is so close to being able to do it herself. This little girl is fearless.

Nathan in goggles =)

So, Nathan is doing CPR on Kyle in this picture. Kyle would pretend to drown and Nathan would pull him out of the water and check his pulse and do compressions on Kyle's stomach. I have video and it is hilarious. I will post it as soon as I can. When Kyle would come back to life, he would spit the water out of his mouth (like they do in the movies). Nathan went to do mouth to mouth and Kyle spit the water out. That was the one and only time he was going to save his brother with mouth to mouth.

Rachel came swimming after most of the people left. Kyle was cracking her up. She really likes him. He gets her to laugh every time he sees her.

All tuckered out after a long day.
She turned 20 weeks today and apparently, she had a very tiring day!

Papa's Homecoming

Bryce has been gone for a couple of months for work. He came home and enjoyed spending time with Rachel. She is opening a stuffed elephant that her Papa got her from Thailand.

Friends Wedding

We went to a wedding on Saturday night of a couple of coworkers of mine. Tim had to go to work, so after the ceremony, I had a friend take a picture of us all dressed up (since that doesn't happen very often).

Napping

Rachel was trying to block out the light during her nap the other day and fell asleep covering her eyes.

Last Summer Trip to the Zoo

Becky and I took Rachel and Grant to the Zoo yesterday. It was my final trip for the summer. It was really nice out there. Both Rachel and Grant were really well behaved. It is so nice to be able to take our babies pretty much anywhere and not have to worry about them screaming and being upset. They are such a joy to be around and I love to hang out with Becky. So, all in all, it was a great day!

Hanging out with the Bellavances

Rachel and I went to my cousins house a couple of days ago and hung out with his wife and kids. We went to Sonic (my first time) for lunch. We went through the drive-thru. It was not a great first experience. My food was good, but the teenagers who worked there were morons. We took our food to Santee lakes and ate there. It was really nice eating outside by the lakes.

Rachel and EJ

Julia, EJ, Rachel, and Corinne

Both EJ and Corinne were really interested in holding Rachel. They could not get enough of her. It was really cute how a 1 and 1/2 year old wanted to hold her. They were both really good with her and she didn't mind being held by either EJ or Corinne.

4 Month Doctor Appointment/19 Weeks

Rachel had her 4 month doctor's appointment today. She was 14 lb. 13 oz (50th percentile), 25 inches long (70th percentile), and her head circumference was 41 1/2 cm (55th percentile). I knew she would be at least in the 50th percentile in each category.

She is posing for the camera while getting weighed.

Here she is getting her length measured.

She got 2 shots and 1 oral vaccine. She is showing off her bugs bunny band-aids on both of her thighs.

My baby girl is 19 weeks old. What a cutie-pie (if I do say so myself)!

Dinner Party

We had a dinner party with our friends Doug, Marie, Emma, Jason, Kristyn, and Jillian on Friday night. We have been doing this as a group for a few years now (minus the kids), but Tim and I have never hosted one. Our condo is just too small to have many people over. We have been housesitting Tim's parents house for the past week and a half and so we decided that we should finally host one.
It was really hard to get a picture of all of the girls cooperating. This is the closest I could get.
Left to right: Rachel, Jillian, Emma

Eventually Jillian found the buttons on Rachel's jumper and Rachel was not too happy about it. When I picked Rachel up, then Jillian and Emma started stealing each others pacifiers. They were all very entertaining, however it made it very difficult to get a good picture.

First Night Away

Last weekend, I went to a slumber party with a bunch of my teacher friends. It was my first night away from Rachel and Tim's first night alone with her. We stayed up until 4 am talking and having a great time...and Tim did well with Rachel on his own.

Babysitting Grant

Becky had a hair appointment yesterday and needed me to babysit Grant. It was great because they both took naps at the same time...but that also means they were both awake at the same time. Everything was going really smoothly until 11:45 and they both woke up and were both hungry. I was feeding Grant and Rachel was just hanging out. She got upset that I was holding Grant, so I set Grant down and continued feeding him while holding Rachel to calm her down. Rachel got upset that she wasn't getting fed too. Luckily, my savior Tim got home at 12:00 and took Grant and finished feeding him so that I could feed Rachel. I learned that naps at the same time is not the way to do it. Next time, I will feed one while the other is napping and trade off. All in all, it went really well...just 15 minutes of "What do I do?"

18 Weeks

Rachel turned 18 weeks on Monday!
She still really only smiles when she is not looking at the camera.

She has really found her tongue recently. She grabs onto it and then talks. I think she likes how it moves when she is talking.

My sister came over and the 3 of us went swimming.
