Rachel's First Hickey/4 Weeks Old

I saw what I thought was a bruise on Rachel's arm and wasn't sure how she got it.  I asked Tim and he didn't know either.  A couple of minutes later, I realized that it was a hickey.  She has taken to sucking on anything that gets near her mouth.  She prefers to suck on her arm more than her thumb at this point.  I didn't think that she would get her first hickey at 4 weeks old, but I am glad that her first one wasn't from a boy!

Rolling Over

On April 19, Rachel rolled herself from back to front two different times.  I now have her sleep with a sleep positioner so she can't roll herself over anymore.  She can't roll onto her side as easily (which is how she prefers to sleep), so it makes it harder to get her to sleep.

First Pacifier and First Bottle

Over the past week, Rachel has been trying to suck on anything that gets near her mouth.  We decided to introduce the pacifier 2 days ago and she really likes it.

I have a doctors appointment later this week and was hoping that Tim would be able to stay home with Rachel.  We needed to see if she would take a bottle so that when she was home with daddy, she would be able to eat.  Yesterday, we gave Rachel her first bottle.  She sucked it right down.

Rachel's First Real Bath

Rachel had her first bath yesterday.  As you can see, she was not a big fan of the bathtub.  She does not like being undressed and as soon as we put her in the water, she was screaming.  She had herself so worked up, she cried for the next couple of hours.  We were able to get a couple of pictures where she is not crying, but she was definitely not happy.  I am not looking forward to the next bath.  I hope that she starts to like the bath more.  I hate to think that every time I give her a bath that she will spend the next couple of hours totally upset.

Grandma finally gets to hold Rachel

My mom finally got to hold Rachel.  She held her briefly the night she was born but got sick a couple of days later.  She has been dying to hold her granddaughter, but did not want to get her sick.  She was finally able to hold her after over 3 weeks of waiting.

Rachel was very happy to be in her grandma's arms.

3 Weeks

Rachel had a couple of visitors on her 3 week birthday.  My sister Brianne and my friend Jamie (who I have known since first grade) came by to visit.

Rachel is pretending she is sleeping on daddy's lap after her long day with visitors.

For those of you who think she doesn't cry (which she only does rarely and few have actually witnessed it), here is proof.  She spent much of the evening upset.  We couldn't do anything to make her happy.  The picture of her sleeping on Tim's lap from above was a short 5 minute nap that she took.  The majority of the night, she looked like this.

Two week birthday

I know these pictures are almost a week late, but here are a couple of 2 week pictures of Rachel.  She seems to be changing so much every day.

Emma's Baptism

We went to Emma's baptism yesterday.
She had a rather large crowd there.

She did really well when the priest was pouring water on her head.

Godparents Omar and Liz
Parents Marie and Doug with Emma

Rachel is with her friends Emma and Jillian.  She looks so small compared to the other two girls.

Jillian wasn't a huge fan of laying down on the couch so Kristyn picked her up.  Rachel and Emma were both okay with it, but it looks like Rachel is trying to kick Emma off of the couch.

Aunt Becky comes for a visit

Becky came over to visit Rachel.  Spike (Becky's baby who is due at the beginning of June and is still awaiting a name) was kicking Rachel the whole time she was holding her.  I hope he is not jealous already!

Lunch with Work Friends

This is Rachel's first lunch outing.  (Actually, her second.  Tim's mom and I took her out after we went shopping for her Easter dress.)
Krystle, Me, Lori, Tali, and Rachel.

Tali and Rachel.  I used to teach with Tali and we were in the credential program together.

Easter at the Hodgson's House

We celebrated our 3rd and final Easter at Tim's parents house.

Easter at Aunt Cathy's House

We went to my Aunt Cathy and Uncle Ernie's house to celebrate Easter with the rest of my family.  We discovered very quickly that a day with family is a day that we have our hands free.

Random Pictures to Share

Since I haven't had time to post every day, here are a few random pictures that we have taken over the past few weeks.

Rachel is attempting to suck her thumb.  She is not exactly sure how it is supposed to go into her mouth.

She loves sleeping with her arms up.  Usually she has both arms up.  In this one, she is only showing off her right muscle.

I will try to post pictures of Easter and her 2 week birthday in the next couple of days.  She likes to be held most of the time, which makes it hard to type.  I am sure that I will get better at holding her and posting at the same time.
