Tim and I had our 4 year anniversary on April 1st. Tim had set up for his mom to watch Rachel after she went to bed while we went out to the BJ's that just opened up by the mall.
Ahhh, the happy couple at the beginning of the night...
...and the meal from you know where. I ordered the Angel Hair Toscana and it took 4 times and about an hour and a half for them to get it right.
We learned our lesson to never go to a restaurant right after it opens up. Wait for them to work the kinks out...or maybe not! I ordered this meal without tomatoes (of course) and the first time it came out as plain pasta with pine nuts. It was completely bland. After I sent it back, 20 or so minutes later it came back with a bit of olive oil, pine nuts and pasta, but again, nothing else. The third time was pretty much the same as the second time. At about 9:30, I finally got my meal. I wasn't really in the mood to eat by then though so I had a nice left-over plate for dinner tonight :) Tim and I ordered drinks and as good as they were, they also took about 20 minutes each time to come out. When Tim was about the complain to the manager, she had already heard the story from the many waitresses that we had and was very apologetic and frustrated with her chefs and she said the meal and desserts were on her. So, we ordered dessert as well. The bill came and it was about $90. Tim told the waitress that the manager said we didn't have to pay for the dinner and dessert and she took the bill completely away, including drinks. We had figured all along that we would have to pay for drinks, so that was a nice little bonus. So we gave the waitresses their tip and got off with a very inexpensive bill.
So, I didn't know that Tim was going to set up an anniversary dinner on our anniversary night so I had set up a anniversary lunch today at The Barrel Room in Rancho Bernardo. Marie had given us a gift certificate for Christmas, including free babysitting, and we decided to take her up on it.
I had a yummy panini with fruit
and Tim had a duck quesadilla. We both really enjoyed our food. It was such a beautiful day outside that we really enjoyed dining on the patio.
Meanwhile, Rachel and Emma were having fun playing at Emma's house.
The girls even decorated Easter eggs with Marie. What a great babysitter! I am sure that they had fun. When Rachel brought hers home, she started throwing them. She has become really good at throwing balls with us and I think that she thought that they were for throwing. Oh well, she will learn in the next couple of days that eggs are for eating....and definitely not for throwing.
